Sump Pump Maintenance Tips

Posted February 19, 2014

Late winter and early spring are prime times for basement flooding in the Chicagoland area. Follow these simple tips to ensure your home's sump pump is working properly. A sump pump removes water that may enter your home through the foundation. Just a small amount of water can cause thousands of dollars or damage, from water-soaked flooring to mold that can be difficult to remove. First, make sure the sump pump is plugged in. Next test the pump by lifting the float. The pump should turn on. If it doesn't start, you should have the pump checked.
