If you’ve been waiting for a rebate from your utility company before taking the plunge and buying a new furnace, you’re in luck! Nicor, North Shore Gas and Peoples Gas are offering rebates on new and installed high efficiency furnaces and boilers. If you have gone ahead and made the proactive attempt to “Go Green” you can finally reap the benefits of installing an energy efficient system.
Time to replace your furnace?
Nicor is offering rebates ranging from $250-$300 on high efficiency furnaces. You may also qualify for a $425 rebate for having a high efficiency boiler installed and up to $600 on a high efficiency water heater. Not sure if your new equipment qualifies for these rebates? Give us a call and we’ll answer any questions you may have.
The North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings Program similarly offers incentives to encourage customers to make energy-efficient improvements to their homes and apartment buildings. Rebates are available on energy efficient boilers, water heaters, controls and insulation. To qualify, boilers and water heaters must be installed by professional contractors, like your friends at ABC. North Shore and Peoples Gas customers are eligible to receive a rebate of $600 on high efficiency boilers and $250 on high efficiency water heaters. If you add an AEROSEAL to your system, you can receive an additional $500 in rebates.
If you're looking to do a complete overhaul of your HVAC system, ComEd is offering a rebate on high efficiency air conditioning systems, but you must also be getting a new high efficiency furnace to qualify. This rebate ranges from $300-$400 but please note that upgrading just your air conditioning system does not qualify for this rebate.
The current rebate program for the Chicagoland area started in May of 2014 and will run for 3 years, as long as funds are still available. Also, the federal tax credit program is no longer available. Please be aware that there will be new regulations put into effect for water heaters and their efficiency standards on April 1, 2015.
While each of these rebates offers you wonderful savings, there are certain qualifications that MUST be met. Thinking of upgrading to a high efficiency unit? Call ABC and we’ll send one of our expert Comfort Consultants, free of charge. They’ll not only help you find the best unit for your home, but they’ll help walk you through the different rebates available and how you can receive them.
